Yarn flowers are easy to make and the colors are limited only to the colors of yarn in your sewing basket. Try some glittered or multi-colored yarn for a fun twist!
What You'll Need:
- Yarn or embroidery floss
- green cloth-covered floral wire
- green floral tape
- scissors
- Wrap the yarn that you want as your center around two fingers about 6 times, depending on the thickness of your yarn.
- Wrap the yarn that you want as your petals around three to four fingers about eight times, depending on the thickness of your yarn.
- Bend one piece of florist wire in half. Take your yarn (with the center color on top) and place it into the U shaped bend in the wire. Twist the wire closed to hold the yarn in place.
- Trim the ends of the yarn to a length that makes it seem more realistic.
- Gather the yarn straight up and, starting just below the flower, wrap the florist wire with the florist tape. Be sure to cover where the yarn meets the wire. Be sure to cover the entire wire in tape. This gives the wire a soft and textured look. You can add a craft leaf or a piece of riboon cut to look like a leaf. Just use the tape to secure it to the flower's stem.
- You can unravel the yarn to give it all a more detailed look or leave the yarn as is, depending on what you like better. I recommend trying both. Also, don't forget that the wire is bendable and you can secure the flowers together to make a permanent bouquet.

Fun Tip: If you want big fluffy flowers, use thick fluffy yarn and wrap it around all four fingers ten times or more. This will give you a fun and crazy flower.
