Back to School Projects

Time to start back into the school year and the best way to introduce curriculum is to disguise it as Art! Get all of your homeschoolers involved with these fun and creative activities... .

  • What's Missing? A fun hands-on way to build your child's memory.

    What you'll need:
An Assortment of small household items
A paper and pencil ( for the homeschoolers who write).

For your younger homeschoolers, choose between five and ten items and put them on the table top. Let them look at them for a minute then ask them to close their eyes or turn around. You then remove one to two items from the table. Have them open their eyes and tell you what's missing.

For your older homeschoolers, choose up to twenty or more items and place them on the table. Give them up to five minutes to look at the items and memorize what they are. When the five minutes is up, put a towel over them. Then ask everyone to write down all the items they can remember.

For the Advanced, place up to twenty items on the table and give your children five minutes to memorize what's on the table and where it's at. Then take a digital photo of it or make a quick note of each item's placement. After the five minute is up sweep everything off the table into a basket. Then the challenge is to see if the kids can put everything back on the table in the right order using teamwork and their memories. To add a fun twist - time them!
