Homemade Holiday Classics

Have the children make their own versions of your favorite holiday books

What you'll need:

  • Writing Paper
  • Construction paper
  • Crayons, Markers
  • Hole Punch
  • Scrap Yarn or String
  • Old paintings or drawings the kids have made
  • A copy of your child’s chosen Christmas classic to get ideas from
  • Extras from your craft box

1.) Have the children chose which holiday favorite they would like to use. Once they’ve decided, have them copy the story directly or they can even add their own fun twists! Use the writing paper and have them double space it or keep in mind that they need to separate it for the different pages of their book later.

2.) Take as many pieces of your construction paper as you need to make a book.

3.) Cut out the stories into different pages of the book. Pictures and coloring is a must, or you older kids can make them on the computer as a project. You can keep these forever or give them to family as gifts!

A Twist: Another fun project is to create a tiny version of a holiday classic, glue a loop of ribbon to the top of the book, and add a Christmas hook…viola, you have a fun, original Christmas ornament that you can read!

I hope this idea helps your Christmas Season to be a little easier on your pocket book and more importantly I hope this helps to bring your family closer together at this wonderful time of year. Merry Christmas from my family to yours! Thanks for listening.

Aloha,

Kristi Kristi Hagen
