Homeschoolers Homemade Ice Cream

Looking for perfectly simple recipes that will let your homeschooler spend a little more time in the kitchen - maybe even without your having to do all the work? Have your homeschoolers roll their way to a tasty treat!

What you'll need:

  • 3 pound metal can with a plastic cover - coffee cans work great!
  • 1 pound metal can with a plastic cover - a tin baby formula can also works great!
  • Rock Salt
  • Crushed Ice
  • 2 cups of whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Crushed peppermint stick - about 3 Tbs.
  1. Place 1 pound can into the center of 3 pound can. Fill the smaller can with all the ingredients, except the rock salt and the crushed ice. Feel free to add as much food coloring as you want....the greener the better!

  2. Use the crushed ice and rock salt to layer around the small 1 pound can. Then put the lids onto both of the containers.

  3. Have all of your homeschoolers sit in a circle on floor and just start rolling the can back and forth. Time the rolling to last for about 15 minutes. Surprisingly you're done. Open and Enjoy!
