Here's a Fun Homeschool Valentine's Day Craft that will brighten up any room!
What You'll Need:
Bright Colored Crayons
A Roll of Wax Paper
Red or Pink Thread and a Sewing Needle
1 Small Pencil Sharpener per child
Scissors
Hand Held Iron
1 Paper Bag per child
Tape
Let's Get Started!
Start your craft by giving each child their own sheet of wax paper and some crayons that vary in color. The wax paper should be at about a 1 foot long strip. Then have your homeschoolers peel the paper off of their crayons.
Next, have your homeschoolers use their pencil sharpeners to put crayon shavings onto their waxed paper. Try to spread the shavings out evenly (big clumps don't iron well) but at the same time leave the wax paper clear around the edges.
Put your flat paper bag onto your ironing board and place the wax paper full of shavings onto the bag. Now place a second clean sheet of waxed paper over the top of it the shavings, followed by another flat paper bag. It's like a crafty homeschool sandwich that should look like this:
Paper bag
Wax paper
Crayon shavings
Wax paper
Paper bag
This is where a parent steps in! Heat the iron to an even medium temperature and begin to slowly ironing the top paper bag.
Keep Ironing until the shavings are melted evenly. You will have to stop and peek under the paper bag to know for sure.
Once the wax paper has cooled down, let your homeschoolers cut out hearts. You can use a heart shaped cookie cutter for your younger ones.
Once they're all cut out use the needle and thread to string the hearts up individually. You can attach each heart to your window sill individually or tape the strings to a strip of construction tape. Then attach your strip of construction paper to the window sill with a thumb tack or even to the window itself with a suction cup that has a hook attached.
